Argo Tea

I’m going to first start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE Argo Tea.

I had the pleasure of visiting Chicago for a week at the end of April, and of course, tea shop visits were on my list!

I had heard of Argo Tea a while ago, as a result of their introduction of a new “Starbucks, minus the coffee, add the tea” concept and became fascinated with the ideology of the shop. I was excited to finally get a chance to visit Argo Tea, and ultimately left very impressed.

The menu was fantastic. Walking in and looking up at a tea menu was amazing. With a little coffee menu, and a wide variety of tea drinks, I knew nothing could go wrong. During my stay, I tasted two signature drinks that were absolutely amazing. Both the Pom Tea (though a little sweet for my taste) and Red Velvet were delicious. I particularly loved the Red Velvet, a blend of “enticing red tea blended, natural raspberry and white chocolate,” as noted on Argo Tea’s site. I was left wishing for more.

I also, of course, bought some tea to go. I picked up some Genmaicha and Mate Mango, both of which are great. The Genmaicha has a stronger roasted flavour than others that I have tried, so it was a great addition to my “tea collection”. The Mate Mango is also quite exquisite, overpowering the plant-like flavour of the mate and putting in a sweet fruit taste on top for a powerful pick me up.

I am extremely jealous of those in the Chicago (and NYC) area who are able to frequent Argo Tea. There is definitely no concept such as this in the Toronto area. If you live in the area and have yet to check out Argo Tea, get on it! For locations go to: http://argotea.com/locations_chicago.shtml

  1. Too bad there’s nothing like Argo Tea here either, that Red Velvet tea sounds amazing.

Thought you might like to know that Dad is finally making the switch to tea! It’s only a matter of time now before we convert Mom too 😀
